After sold-out performances at Broadbeach Jazz Festival, BJC and Gold Coast Arts Centre, the Ella and Louis Project delivers an exciting show with some swinging new melodies. Join us for an excellent show of great music paying our respects to the immortal Ella and Louis and the timeless tunes from such a classic era of jazz.

As the name suggests, this swinging ensemble is comprised of 6 like-minded university students. A fiery frontline with Forbes Scotney – trumpet, and Cassie Godbold – saxophone, a cooking rhythm section featuring James Ball – piano, Tom Hancock – drums, and some other cool cats T B A. Expect some hard bop tunes by Hank Mobley, Lee Morgan, Dexter Gordon, Freddie Hubbard, Clifford Brown, Harold Land and many more swinging beboppers! That’s Jazz baby!!!!!

Don’t miss Australian born, now UK based jazz vocalist Josh Kyle as he swings into the Brisbane Jazz Club with a stellar line – up featuring Sean Coffin [ Sydney ] – saxophone, Chris Poulsen – piano, Jeremy O’Connor – double bass and Mark Henman – drums.

Elly has just returned from overseas after performing in New York and attending the Stanford Jazz Workshop in California. She is inspired and excited to share some new originals as well as classics from the American songbook. Elly’s debut album won the Bell Award for best Australian Jazz Album in 2011.

Sharing the stage with Elly will be the wonderful talents of James Sherlock – guitar, John Hoffman – flugelhorn, Thierry Fossemalle – bass, and Dave Sanders – drums.

Brazilian music played by Brazilians!! Coisa Linda means “beautiful thing ” in Portuguese and interprets the finest songs of Brazilian popular music repertoire, bringing  warm and tasteful renditions of some of Brazil’s most loved masterpieces.

With its joyful music, Coisa Linda has been charming audiences all over Australia.

Lucia Medeiros – voice , Mauricio Hosi – guitar, Claudio Climaco – percussion,  and Wade Gegory – piano,  with special guest Edson Gazani – bass.

Brunch – InterJazz  [ standards ]

Brunch and coffee are not included in admission price.

InterJazz features Alan Burge – bass , Ian Edwards – clarinet / Saxophone, Viv Huthance – drums,  and Dave Burrows – guitar. This swinging group of North-Coasters will present a wonderful show of classic standards of all styles of jazz. What a way to swing into your lazy Sunday morning with these cool cats!!!!

The University of Queensland Big Band [ swinging Big Band sounds ]

The UQ Big Band plays originals, swing favourites and big band classics by artists such as Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse and Radiohead. Based at the University of Queensland, the band is led by the award-winning trumpet player Clint Allen and is now in its sixth year. It has played festivals, corporate functions, community events and concerts from Broadbeach to Bundaberg and released two acclaimed CDs : Band of Distinction and Time after Time.
