Natalie opened the evening with a couple of her very catchy original compositions then charmed the audience with a fab arrangement of Billy Joel’s ‘New York State of Mind’ (quite appropriate as she is just off to the bright lights of New York for 3 months to record with Matt Baker). More really fab original compositions followed and these will be recorded in NY. The resulting CD should be a hit if these songs are anything to go by.
Natalie is a very talented composer as well as having a really groovy, pitch perfect jazz voice.
A fab choice next, Grover Washington’s ‘Winelight’, I didn’t know it had lyrics! What a great arrangement and delivery. More fab tunes took us to the break.
The second set opened with Van Morrison’s ‘Moondance’ then more delightful original compositions and some standard jazz classics to take the audience on their journey through the evening.
Natalie’s relaxed, easy style together with wonderful support from the superb band, enchanted the audience with a very professional performance. Altogether a very pleasant evening with a good crowd for a school night.
