SEARCHING Past Presidents and Life Members for 40th Anniversay Celebration

The Brisbane Jazz Club will be celebrating it’s 40th Anniversary on 15th April 2012. The club would like to invite Past Presidents and Life Members to this salubrious event. The BJC needs to get up to date addresses of the people listed below as soon as possible so they can be invited. Although walk-ins are welcome, we recommend booking online because we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available at the door. We recommend arriving early when the doors open to avoid disappointment!
Bookings
If you require a wheelchair, please contact us by email or phone (07 3391 2006) to make a booking. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to arrange wheelchair access for a performance.

In order to function properly, our online booking system requires Java, which can be downloaded from the SunJava website.

Please be aware of our concession pricing policy.

If you wish to volunteer for the Club either speak to one of the Duty Managers or Front of House on the night or simply email info@brisbanejazzclub.com.au for a form.

INTERNET BOOKING POLICY
There is a limit of eight (8) tickets per performance per person (regardless of the number of transactions). This includes orders associated with the same name, email address, billing address, credit card number or other information. Ticket purchases are closely monitored and any tickets purchased above the limit will be voided without further notice.

The Caxton Street Jazz Band is Brisbane’s and one of Australia’s foremost jazz bands. The CSJB is known for its hot playing and variety of repertoire. While the band appears regularly in various venues throughout Queensland and New South Wales.

The D B 3 Trio is a Brisbane Jazz Club favourite which always delivers timeless jazz standards, cool blues and swinging originals. Featuring David Bentley – vocals / piano, Andrew Shaw – double bass,  and Kerry Jacobson – drums. Courier Mail Music Editor Noel Mengel has described The D B 3 Trio as reminiscent of “Georgie Fame and later Van Morrison, easily moving between jazz, soul and blues with healthy doses of New Orleans”.

Ewan MacKenzie and Electric Friends

Ewan MacKenzie is well known as the driving force behind the annual OzManouche Festival and is one of Australia’s premier guitarists in the style of Django Reinhardt.  He’ll be playing a set of hot Gypsy Jazz before reaching into his pre- Django career to present 2 sets of jazz / blues featuring material from his two award winning albums : “Turquoise” and  “A Patch of Blue”.

Whitesploitation is jazz-educated, rock-motivated and bound together by a penchant for fearless experimentation. The five members met at the Monash School of Music where similar musical influences were discovered.

Aligned with this was a shared desire to fuse the raw energy of their favourite teenhood rock bands with the modern jazz hum of their stomping ground, Fitzroy.
