BRISBANE JAZZ CLUB:

All phone and email booking enquiries are answered within 48hrs.  We are not open during the weekend daytime. We also do not answer the phones during the first 1-1.5hours of opening our doors at night.  Please read our policies below.  If you still have any issues email info@brisbanejazzclub.com.au and we will respond.   As a not-for-profit organisation we thank you for your patience and understanding. INTERNET BOOKING
There is a limit of eight (8) tickets per performance per person (regardless of the number of transactions). This includes orders associated with the same name, email address, billing address, credit card number or other information. Ticket purchases are closely monitored and any tickets purchased above the limit will be voided without further notice.

WALK-INS ON THE NIGHT 
Although walk-ins are welcome, we recommend booking online because we cannot guarantee that tickets will be available at the door. However if you choose this option we recommend arriving early when the doors open to avoid disappointment!

SUNJAVA
In order to function properly, our online booking system requires Java, which can be downloaded from the SunJava website.

Please be aware of our concession pricing policy.

VOLUNTEERING
If you wish to volunteer for the Club either speak to one of the Duty Managers or Front of House on the night or simply email info@brisbanejazzclub.com.au for a form.

WHEELCHAIRS
If you require a wheelchair, please contact us by email or phone (07 3391 2006) to make a booking. A minimum of 48 hours notice is required to arrange wheelchair access for a performance.

DINNER
Our caterers, The Story Bridge Hotel, who are onsite,  make the best gourmet barbeque this side of the bridge. With the freshest ingredients they can whip up dishes from Moroccan Chicken Caesar to Swordfish to Wagyu steak plus a dessert.  Gluten-freeand Vegetarian dishes are available.  All orders are taken in the Club and delivered to your table. Just answer yes or no to the question during the booking process.

 

Gift Certificate

The facility allows you to purchase certificates which may be used to pay for seat bookings and admissions to the club.  You can purchase one or more certificates of $20 (Member), $22 (Govt Concession) or $25 (Non-member).  These amounts generally match Club entry prices.

Australian pianist and composer Barney McAll has lived and worked in NYC since 1997, playing with artists such as Gary Bartz, Kurt Rosenwinkel and Kenny Garrett. McAll’s music emanates a truly unique global awareness, fusing elements of Jazz, Cuban and popular musics. Diving through “rhythmic textures woven and stretched with passion”, McAll’s music is “absorbing and captivating”. He is joined by Phil Rex (Melb) on bass, saxophonist Elliott Dalgleish and drummer Chris Vale.

The Caxton Street Jazz Band is Brisbane’s and one of Australia’s foremost Jazz bands. The CSJB is known for its hot playing and variety of repertoire. While the band appears regularly in various venues throughout SE Qld and NNSW, the BJC is the band’s  “spiritual home” and is without a doubt the best place for fans to catch the CSJB at its relaxed jazzy best.

Elly has just returned from overseas after performing in New York and attending the Stanford Jazz Workshop in California. She is inspired and excited to share some new originals as well as classics from the American songbook. Elly’s debut album won the Bell Award for best Australian Jazz Album in 2011.

Sharing the stage with Elly will be the wonderful talents of James Sherlock – guitar, John Hoffman – flugelhorn, Thierry Fossemalle – bass, and Dave Sanders – drums.

The University of Queensland Big Band [ swinging Big Band sounds ]

The UQ Big Band plays originals, swing favourites and big band classics by artists such as Michael Buble, Robbie Williams, Amy Winehouse and Radiohead. Based at the University of Queensland, the band is led by the award-winning trumpet player Clint Allen and is now in its sixth year. It has played festivals, corporate functions, community events and concerts from Broadbeach to Bundaberg and released two acclaimed CDs : Band of Distinction and Time after Time.

Mute Canary Project Quartet

Established in 2005, The Mute Canary Project features the interaction of the old and new generation of improvisers, through sonic improvisation and spontaneous composition. Recently the group has been exploring the music of West Coast Cool pioneers, Lee Konitz, Wayne Marsh and Lennie Tristano. The project recontextualises  this music with the superimposition of metric and / or rhythmic ideas on these standard forms. The group will consist of Elliott Dalgleish, Chris Vale, James Ball and Sam Maguire.
