They will be showcasing the timeless individualistic melodies of Ornette Coleman alongside complex and modern works by Greek composer and architect Lannis Xenakis. Originally from Perth, Saxophonist Gemma Farrell came to Brisbane in 2008 to complete her advanced studies in Jazz Saxophone at The Brisbane Conservatorium. Tonight Gemma leads a line up of Brisbane's finest in her debut gig as a leader since her graduation including Greg Carger - Trumpet, Joe O'Connor - Piano, Jeremy O'Connor - Double Bass and Lyle Denman - Drums. She will perform compositions by Wayne Shorter, Thelonious Monk, Charlie Hunter, Sam Jones and Gerry Mulligan. Come and share Gemma's passionate sounds before she heads to Europe to complete her Masters of Music.
