Bookings
New booking system to be in place by April. See below.
Bookings are accepted for every club night except Jazz Singers’ Jam Nights.
You
can come along without booking, but if you do choose not to book, it's best to
turn up early because sometimes there will be standing room only
(and sometimes not even that!).
The best way to book is to
Email us at bookings@brisbanejazzclub.com.au
Alternatively, you can phone our office (07 3391 2006) and leave a message. We
will return your call
to discuss your booking details and take your payment,
Payment is required at the time of booking.
Credit card payments are accepted over
the phone or you can arrange to visit our office to make your payment by cash,
cheque or eftpos. Don't email us your credit card details!
We will soon have in place a new system, whereby you can select your seat(s)
and pay
on-line. Watch this page for updates.
Bookings for Groups
Groups of up to 12 people may book an area inside the Club, but larger groups
will be allocated space outside on the deck.
If you are planning on bringing a group of 13 or more, see our
Groups and Functions
page for more details.
Internet Booking Sytem for the Brisbane Jazz Club
Bookings for nights at the BJC will soon be done over the internet.
Starting from April, patrons will be able to choose tables/seats from an
on-screen floor plan, pay with credit card via a secure link, and print
admission tickets at home.
Patrons will have immediate confirmation of their bookings with actual seat and
table numbers. It will no longer be necessary to phone or email the Club for a
booking then wait for a reply. Bookings by phone will still be available to
those patrons who do not have internet access, but it is likely that most will
have a friend or relative who can do an internet booking for them.
The new system will take a large workload from our staff and volunteers who
presently field many phone calls, emails and answering machine messages, and
make return calls in order to keep our current booking system working.
The new system will be provided by Seat Advisor, an international company which
provides ticketing services to many types of entertainment venues world-wide.
The Club chose the Seat Advisor Box Office system (SABO - it's a word we'll be
hearing a lot around the Club) because of its capacity to provide much more
than simple on-line purchase of admission tickets. SABO allows patrons to book
specific seats and/or tables from the Club's floor plan - both inside and out
on the deck. Different floor plans will be shown for different events. For
example, for a "Big Band for Dancing" night, there will be no tables on the
edge of the dance floor. For when there's a high tide, the on-line floor plan
will be linked to the weather bureau to show how much of the deck will be
covered with water (no, just kidding).
There will be a cost to the new system, but part of that will be recovered by a
$3 booking charge. This charge will apply to each booking, not to each seat
booked.
To allow booking by seat, every seat will have to be numbered. However, the
numbering will be based on table numbers, and will not be too different from
the current numbers.
A handy feature of the new system is that when people make a booking on-line,
they can register on the system so that next time all their details will be
there, making subsequent bookings easier - and quicker. For club members,
the system will recognize them and allow them to book at the member price.
We are scheduled to start SABO bookings in April. The first event for which
on-line bookings will be taken will be Saturday 3 April and bookings will open on
or about 15 March. Keep an eye on this page for further updates.
