Featuring Joe Marchisella on drums, Dave Gilea on Bass and James Ball on piano. Lateo, Latin for ” hidden”, set the evening off to a great start with a groovy rendering of the Beatles ‘Norwegian Wood’ and followed up with a couple of wonderful standards ‘Beatrice’ and ‘All the things you are’.
This was followed by some brilliant original compositions by Dave Gilea. Then ‘Time Management’ composed by Joe Marchisella. They continued through the set with a mix of originals and familiar tunes.

So, what can I say about last night other than it was a ‘Funking’ good night with 151 young patrons, finding the Club very much to their liking and vowing to return. With a style described as blues/soul/groove and funk, although I’m not quite sure how to define ‘funk’, Funky Miracle hit the stage, the flames were kindled and burst into flame on the 5th or 6th bar of the first number.    This is what the audience had come to hear.

Trent Bryson Dean Group – 26 June 2014

The band opened the evening with a couple of standards by Miles Davis and Cole Porter followed by a fab arrangement of The Beatles “Norwegian Wood” arranged by Peter Walters.
Ross was brilliant on the BJC’s fab baby grand but also played some great tunes on the electric piano. Peter (as usual) played his bull fiddle ( bass – remember “Some like it Hot”) and electric bass with aplomb. The only musician that did not bring 2 instruments to the stage…
