Jazzab – Saturday July 26th, 2015

The Farsi word Jazzab means attractive, alluring; words which perfectly describe the performance that a capacity crowd enjoyed on Saturday, July 25th at the Brisbane Jazz Club.
This was East meets West in a unique fusion of traditional Persian instruments and the Jazz mainstays of piano, sax, bass and drums.
Through two sets of original compositions, six brilliant musicians interlaced the magic and mystery of music inspired by Persian philosopher/poets, Rumi and Omar Khayyam, with a reverent nod to classic Jazz influences…

Alan Western and Peter Vance Jazz and Pzazz CD Launch Sat 11 July 201

 Two of the Brisbane’s Jazz Club favourite singers, Alan Western and Peter Vance, have  joined musical forces to create the aptly named, and long awaited, ‘Jazz and Pzazz’ CD.

The first half of the evening was dedicated to the CD launch and enjoyed by an appreciative audience who loved every minute of Alan and Pete’s renditions of some amazing tracks including Mac the Knife, Spinning Wheel, I Thought about You, Save Your Love for Me – with an amazing solo by Adam Connelly on sax…

Melissa Western Quintet – Thursday 9 July 2015

Thursday nights at BJC are often quite quiet even though quality acts perform but tonight the 80 plus crowd recognised that this would be the last time they could get to experience the fabulous talents of Melissa Western and her partner, Tnee Dyer on piano and keys for a while. This fab duo were supported by the brilliant guitar, bass and drum accompaniment of Josh Boyd, Nathaniel Andrew and Rich Seymour respectively.

‘Twas a cold Thursday night at BJC but this fab band warmed up the small but appreciative audience. BluesCorp is a contemporary blues band that has won prizes both in Australia and USA for its original compositions, many of which were played on the night.
